Celebrating 57 years in 2025
Developing future-ready students since 1968
For over five decades, Sts Peter and Paul has watched generations of children thrive in a dynamic learning environment that honours tradition while embracing innovation. Our walls tell the stories of early classrooms, parish events, community celebrations, and an unwavering commitment to quality Catholic education.
Growing with tomorrow
Since opening our school grounds in 1968, Sts Peter and Paul has been at the heart of educating young Canberrans. Our foundation rests on the values of compassion, integrity, respect and service. These principles are essential to nurturing socially responsible citizens who thrive in our interconnected world.
While we honour the past, we have our sights firmly set on the future—educating Canberra’s next generation, developing future-ready students. Our educational approach equips students not just with scholastic knowledge but with the skills, curiosity, and resilience needed to succeed in an ever-evolving world.

Sts Peter and Paul Primary School through the years
Take a walk with us through the years, from our beginnings in 1968 to present day. We’re proud of our history in preparing students as Canberra’s future leaders.

1968
Our very first set of classrooms in 1968 when the school first opened.

Late 1960s
Our very first girls’ school uniform.

1970s

Late 1970s, early 1980s
School performances have been an important part of helping children with their self-confidence, and the opportunity to show their parents what they’ve been working hard at all term.

1983
School picture day. This is Kindergarten-3, taken in 1983. Our school uniforms have changed, but our students are still full of curiosity and an eagerness to learn.

Circa 1980s
Teacher Sue Wales and students at reading time, circa 1980s. Sue was with our school for a long time, leaving in 2024. She saw generations of children walk through our gates, and was an important part of our teaching staff. We thank her for her many years of service to the school, our students, and the community.

1992
School picture day also means photos of our staff members. Here are our teachers in 1992.

2010
The Environment Centre was built this year, and with it came cooking classes and the Garden Club, sparking an interest in self-sufficiency and sustainability.

2015
The dunking of Principal John Vance and Vice Principal Peter Rodda for charity, in November 2015.

2020
Our current School Principal, Cameron Johns, joined us in 2020. In his first year, he navigated the school through remote learning, and introduced the healthcare and frontline worker program in 2025.

2020s
Students in Years 3 and 4 participate in the
Robotics Program one day a week. Students are given the opportunity to learn and experiment with programming and problem-solving. Some students enjoy the opportunity to participate in exciting robotics expos that showcase important technological advancements.

2024
A selection of our students welcomed King Charles and Queen Camilla as they landed at Canberra airport.
