Parents play an active role in our school community and contribute to the life and vibrancy of our school in many ways.

Communication channels

We use several important channels to communicate effectively between school and home:

Weekly school newsletter

Our newsletter is published weekly, on Wednesdays. It includes messages from our Principal and Religious Education Coordinator, dates to remember, student input, photos from events around the school and notices about community events.

Articles should be submitted to office.stpandp@cg.catholic.edu.au by Tuesday afternoon.

School camps

At Sts Peter and Paul, we value the benefits that school camps provide. We strive to engage our students in supportive environments that assist them to succeed and grow.

School camps aim to foster independence, self-confidence, leadership skills, as well as building relationships and community spirit.

Our Year 6 and Year 5 students embark on a three-day camp have recently introduced an overnight camp for our Year 4 students and a day camp for our Year 3s.

School canteen

The school Canteen is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings for first break (lunch). Lunch orders are placed via the Qkr! app. Children can also purchase selected items over the counter from 11.10am until 11.30am using a voucher purchased via Qkr!

Special Lunch Orders are held one to two times a term, where a set menu is offered to students. Special lunch orders are placed via Qkr!  No counter sales or other lunch orders will be available on that day.

Qkr! is a pay-as-you-go system which does not require parents to top up their accounts.

Uniform Shop

The uniform Shop is a service for the parents and children. We sell new and quality second-hand school clothing, and all money raised goes back to the school to provide resources for the children.

The Uniform Shop is open Tuesday mornings between 8.30am and 9.30am for face-to-face purchases of new and second-hand clothing.

Home learning

Home learning consists of:

  • Nightly reading
  • 10 minutes of literacy and numeracy consolidation three nights per week, as suggested by class teachers
  • Occasional project work in the upper grades

In 2017, parents were surveyed on the effects of homework to help us evaluate the performance of our home learning policy.

Healthcare and frontline worker program

Our flexible approach ensures children receive the best possible education while their parents serve the Canberra community.

The program offers homework assistance, extracurricular activities, staff training, and emotional support for children to promote resilience and a sense of belonging.

Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry is a place for Year 6 students to belong, connect and have fun. We learn a lot about Jesus and how He can guide us in our lives. It is a time to pray, work together, eat yummy food, play games, do drama, arts and craft, and learn about the Bible.

School Community Council

The Council provides the opportunity for members of the school, parish and Archdiocesan community to support the mission of Catholic education at Sts Peter and Paul Primary School. Working with the Parish Priest, Principal, staff and parent body, the Council members provide leadership to the school community in a decision-making and advisory role.

ACT Sponsorship Request Form

Sts Peter and Paul Primary School recognises the significant talent of our students.

For students who are selected for representation in their chosen activity at the ACT level, the school is pleased to provide grants of up to $250 to support their involvement. Please complete the following form if you wish to formally request sponsorship for your child who has been selected to represent the ACT.

Catholic Care

To support their social and emotional wellbeing, Sts Peter and Paul’s students and their families can access counselling through Catholic Care. Our former counsellor, Laura Lanerton prepared and presented a parent workshop explaining ways to better manage mental health and notice warning signs.

Our current counsellor is Shandelle Steere. Should you feel your child would benefit from this support, complete this referral form.
