Gospel Reflection Lk 1:39-45
The Gospel passages of the second and third weeks of Advent this year featured John the Baptist in his role of preparing the way for the coming of Jesus; the one who announces the arrival of the Christ. In this week’s passage, which goes back to an earlier point in the Gospel of Luke, we might say that the as yet unborn John is already recognising the presence of the Christ. When Mary goes to visit her cousin, Elizabeth, the child within Elizabeth’s womb – John – leaps for joy. At the time of the Annunciation, when Mary was told by the angel Gabriel that she was to give birth to a child, Mary is also told that Elizabeth and Zechariah, although very old, were to also give birth to a child. Mary rushes to visit Elizabeth, not to make sure that the angel was telling her the truth but because the fact that Elizabeth was also pregnant was a sign of confirmation to Mary that she had indeed made the right decision. Elizabeth’s unlikely pregnancy confirms for Mary the even greater truth of her own pregnancy. These two women, separated by age and distance, share a common experience of God acting in their lives to bring about unlikely events. The lives of their two children will be inextricably linked such that the one who leapt for joy in his mother’s womb will eventually baptise the other and announce the arrival of His ministry to the people of Israel.
The joy expressed by Elizabeth and her child reflects the joy of all people of faith as we draw so close to the celebration of Christmas and the greatest expression of God’s love – to enter into the world as one just like us and share our experience.

We love to shine a light on the acheivements of our students.
Year 6's Kira M's Queanbeyan Roadrunners team under 14 div 2 team fought hard to win their basketball grand final last weekend.
Kira has been playing basketball since she was 8 years old for Southern Cross Club and joined QBN only this year. She has recently been accepted into their coaching development program with a 6am start!!
She also won the coache's award for rugby league for her team leadership and contribution. She is fearless, tackling even the bigger players!! Kira plays for the Rams, this was her first season.
She is trying Oztag now to strengthen her side stepping technique.
Girls rugby seems to be growing. It is great to promote non-traditional sports for girls to show they have choices!
Congratulations Kira, we are so proud of you!
There are a lot of items at lost property at the moment!
Please send your child down to have a look.
Anything left at the end of the year will be donated.
Lost Property clothing rack is situated in front of the canteen. Please ensure all uniform is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Lunch boxes/containers – We ask that all families check their child’s lunch boxes/containers to ensure they have their first and last name easily identifiable. This allows any lost containers to be returned if they are forgotten at lunch time. Unnamed containers are disposed of.
Thank you for a wonderful year!
Thank you for your support throughout the year! This photo is just some of the books we have purchased for the Library through Scholastic rewards from our Book Fair in Term 2 and from Book Club (and a few donations)! I will be busy in the holidays accessioning, labelling covering them all so they will be ready to be borrowed in Week 1 of next year!
Happy Christmas from The Garden Club!
What a year it's been in the garden and kitchen. Lots of happy times and yummy things to make and eat.
We have been busy with Christmas cooking over the last few weeks and Kinder had their turn last week. They had a ball of fun as you can see from all the smiles. I love the Reindeer cookies!
Have a lovely break everyone and keep safe. The Garden Club will be back next year with lots of projects to do in our garden and things to cook and learn about in the kitchen!
For more information about the garden and kitchen and connecting it with the curriculum please email Mrs Katie Birch Katherine.email@example.com.
The Garden Club
If there are any families that would be available over the holidays to help us tend to our garden we’d love to hear from you. We usually set up a weekly roster that includes picking any ripe fruit and watering (although with the weather being what it is at the minute this may be minimal). Please contact Robyn Moore to let her know if you’re interested - firstname.lastname@example.org
